When I was younger, plus size meant large cotton bras that dug into your shoulders and white cotton pants you could sail a boat with. I’m so glad that nowadays plus size can mean sexy size as well. You’ve bought your hot lingerie, now you want to keep it fresh, sexy and like new. Caring for it is more than throwing it in the washer - although that is a temptingly easy way out.
It may be old news for some of you out there, but then again there’s lots of women and men who would like to know the best way of caring for their lingerie investments.
Make sure you close the clasps before washing so they don’t catch on other items or even on the inside of your machine. This could stretch or damage your bras or other items.
Using a zip-up lingerie bag will help prevent snagging and you can wash your bras with other items.
Use cold or warm water on the gentle cycle and wash with compatible colours so you don’t end up with mottled pink or gray items. Also wash with items of similar weight for example panties, t-shirts, socks etc rather than jeans or towels.
Take out the bra and reshape the cups, especially if they have foam in them and hang to dry or dry on a flat surface with a towel underneath. Drying in the dryer can damage the elastic and shorten the life of your bra. It can also tangle or snag on other items and be damaged or stretched.
Read the directions on the label of the bra for special care instruction.
